laugh to not cry

My Mom called me up yesterday morning.
"Hey want to go to Drumheller with me?"
"Sure that sounds great!"
My Grandparents live there and I hadn't been down for awhile. So I rush to get dressed and get the kids dressed and ready to go.

No problem, dressed fed and out the door.

Apparently Carsickness is a genetic disorder. my Dad had it, my brothers and I all have it and apparently my kids have it. Lets just say it wasn't pretty.
We had Lizzy and Sam packed in the --way far backend of the Envoy--, lots of treats to tide them over for the hour and a half trip there.

All of a sudden
(enter barfing noises here). AHHHHH, pull over the car. Strip Lizzy down to her underwear cover her with a blanket and keep going. We will wash the clothes at Grandmas house. She seems fine again bouncy and bubbly, excited to see "gate gamma in dumheller"( this is why we were sure it was carsickness, she is quite lethargic when she is sick). Head down the road some more.

(enter barfing noises here and then double it) Oh no now Elizabeth is puking again and SAM TOO. AHHHHHH, pull over again. clean Lizzy off and the car again, wrap her in my hoodie. Strip Sam down and clean him off, wrap him in his winter jacket which was luckily not on him before. Decide that the --way far backend of the Envoy-- is a bad place ( My Mom and Ethan and I all get sick back there). Cram all 3 car seats into the middle bench. and continue to Drum.

Of course then they were STARVING because they had nothing in their stomach since dinner last night. So they want to eat EVERYTHING. eat to fast on empty carsick stomach. (barfing noises)

The rest of the day consisted of playing, bathing, doing laundry, car cleaning and de-fuming popsicles and peppermints and a teaspoon of gravol to go home with. Lets just say by the time we got home at suppertime they were STARVING again. So we had supper and bedtime which brings us to today, all happy healthy and non barfing.

I really do like

1:00 church. Instead of spending the morning in an utter panic, -food, bath, dressed, snack, change clothes again, rush rush rush-... I can breath... Get up make a nice breakfast, read with kids, play a game, get bathed, lunch, get dressed and go. Then when church is done we come home for a bit or just head over to my Mom's for dinner. Trevor isn't a big fan of 1:00 church but I like the slow pace. I am going to enjoy this year of it, and next year when we are switched to 9:00 I am going to cry.

Blogging is a challange.

Here is my problem. I like to blog. It is therapeutic to me. However I made new years resolutions this year. Things that I really want to do. Like keep up on my laundry and keep the house clean. Play more with kids, and cook dinner.

But when I get on the computer I am just going to update my blog,
and check my emails,
and then my facebook,
and then play a game on facebook,
and look at someones pictures
and then
and then
and then

So I have been avoiding the computer...and i miss it...but it is better...maybe.

I just went to upload pictures from my camera and it is dead.... so no pictures.

I have become the cookie master. I got the fine details from my cousin Becka.

You know how you will cook a batch of cookies, or even a double batch. And halfway through baking you lose interest, and then when they are done you get sick of eating them, and they get hard and yucky. I decided that I would make the dough, roll it into logs and freeze it like that. Then when I wanted cookies I could pull out a log (about a half a batch) and slice it up and bake it. Good except have you ever tried to slice through an inch of frozen cookie dough. My cousin Beck told me though that what she does is scoops out all the dough into cookie size and puts them as close as she can together on a cookie sheet and then freezes them. Once they are frozen you throw them all into a ziplock bag together.

Then late at night when the cookie craving hits and you want say 2 cookies you pull out 2 cookies and bake them, problem solved. Walahh. It works good in the middle of the day to when you kids want a snack. 4 cookies on the sheet and 10 minutes of them looking through the glass into the oven (while you close your eyes on the couch).

Other than that life is good again. Trevor has had a week of unemployment after giving his 3 weeks notice at his previous job right before Christmas. He got a call yesterday from a company saying please stop looking for a job we are going to extend you a formal offer on wed after we do some shuffling. So new job next week (fingers crossed). We are hoping to still be able to make a trip to Utah the 2nd week in Feb, but we will have to see.

Anyways back to cleaning. bah

I am so TIRED

last night was a circus. Sam still isn't sleeping frm the holidays. He cries for hours and then goes to sleep just to wake up and cry again.... and again.... and again. Lizzy woke up four times, "Mom I'm thirsty". BIG cups of water. Downed in second like she hasn't had water for days. What was she dreaming about. Abigail however slept through the night???? How is it my other two were up all night but my baby was out?? We even have the girls in the same room.

I guess that is the name of the game though. What are your craziest sleep deprivation stories?

Christmas was great. But to be honest by the end of it I was drained and ready for holidays to be over. Sad eh. We did skiing and then Christmas at home. But the next day we went to pincher for Chraig Christmas Magrath for Hoy christmas and a brief stop in Cardston to say Hi to my Grandma Nelson. Then Christma in calgary with the Nelsons, my Uncle Johns 50th birthday which landed us at New years drained. Don't get me wrong, I had an absolute blast playing ga,es watching movies eating eating eating. But it is like my kids after a long day of playing.

Best gift ever - new camera!! Sony Cyber Shot.
I also realized I got barly any pictures of Elizabeth because she was always gone playing with cousins. I will have to check my other caera when I find it. But this is my favorite picture of her.

Favorite picture of Sam was a tie

Favorite picture of Abbi
New Years we had friends over for games. My brothers laughed at us though because everyone was gone by 1 am. I guess that is what happens.

I will have to compile an actual list of new years resolutions, my first time ever.

Private

Well it is done, except I should probably add my mother even though she didn't give me her email.

I started wanting to go private last fall when Trev was gone. I longed to be able to write about what I was feeling being home alone with the 3 kid. The love I recieved from family who were taking care of me. But being home alone it frightened me to advertise to the whole world that I was indeed home alone.

Then when he was back here full time I forgot about it. The trial had passed. But it still nagged at me. posting information about my kids, where we lived, what we were doing for the whole free world to read...

Then I realized over Christmas that when I talk about us being gone, or about our upcoming trips. It was an open invitation to the whole internet world to "come and rob my house because we are far away having fun and won't be back till next week."

In all honesty I don't think anything like that would ever happen, or maybe I just tell myself that because I am still very afraid of the dark. Trevor was out playing cards the other night and even watching movies down in the basement freaked me out. I couldn't hear if anyone came into my house. I watched movies upstairs in my recliner.

There it is my whole reasoning. I am a chicken.

I am excited for this new year however. here's to 2010
